A Night of Poetry and Wine in Downtown SMTX

Each month San Marcos celebrates all of the fantastic things about the city with the Third Thursday Downtown Walk About. Stroll through downtown SMTX enjoying food, drink, music, and other events hosted by local businesses. For January, we at Kissing Tree wanted to highlight one of the Third Thursday events that we know our residents will love; the ARS Poetica & Wine Event.

On the January 18, the evening will feature spoken word poetry from special guest Amanda Johnson, Johnson is a Cave Canem Fellow as well as the founding editor for Torch, a publication that focuses on work written by African American Women. There will also be a curated wine selection, as well as a funk band playing before, after and in between readings.

This event is perfect for an interesting night out with friends or an intimate date. Or, treat yourself to a special night out of culture. The special guest changes each month, as does the wine list and accompaniments. The event takes place from 6-9p with tickets at $8 dollars in advance.
