An Evening Under The Stars

It’s a clear, fall evening on the banks of the Texas Hill Country.

You’re situated in a warm neighborhood, where you can see miles and miles of Texas under the big blue sky. Your idyllic street has been transformed into an outdoor dining area, complete with a welcoming picnic table that stretches under a canopy of festive lights for a farm-to-table meal.

The food is served up family-style, so you can get to know the friendly folks next to you. You share fall dishes including herb roasted chicken, butternut squash, roasted brussel sprouts and more. The meal is complemented by Texas-style wines and local brews, and bluegrass is playing in the background, with sounds of laughter heard over the noise.

This was the scene October 28th along Kissing Tree’s Living Oak Cove as we welcomed our first Pioneers. The prospective home buyers and soon-to-be neighbors came from near and far to see the kick-off of Brookfield Residential building one of the most unique 55+ communities in Texas and beyond.

Kissing Tree is an opportunity for us to bring a fresh perspective to active adult communities. We’re tapping our knowledge of smart planning, leading-edge construction and thoughtful design, and combining it with years of research and roundtables on what the 55+ generation is looking for. Simply put, we’re changing the way baby boomers envision retirement by offering a whole lot of fun and thoughtfulness.

Over the Taste of Kissing Tree weekend, visitors were able to get a glimpse into their future homes by getting a sneak peek of Kissing Tree’s eight completed model homes. The 18 floor plan options range from 1,400 to 3,400 square feet and are priced from $250,000 to $500,000.

Each of the homes makes the most of Kissing Tree’s natural setting and views. The designs, like everything else in the community, speak to individual tastes, from traditional to sleekly-angled modern.

To cap off the fun, guests enjoyed a concert by Austin’s very own Gravy Brothers and got a sense of the area’s history with a “visit” from the legendary Texas statesman, Sam Houston.

Kissing Tree Pioneers Stephana and Paul were awed by the friendliness of everyone they met, especially the Kissing Tree staff.

“What really attracted us is the lifestyle,” said Paul. “It’s really soup to nuts, from the houses to the community to the facilities.”

Currently living near Boston, where they have children and grandchildren, the couple has explored 55+ communities across the south. Weary of snow, they’re ready for life in a warm climate and love the variety of outdoor amenities at Kissing Tree.

“We were blown away by the efforts of the staff and builders here,” said Paul. “There’s already an activities director well ahead of any people living here – that shows you how proactive they are.”
