Resident Porch Portraits: Round Two!

We shared our first round of Porch Portraits last month, and we had so many good ones that we just had to do another round! In case you missed the details, our favorite photographer Tyler, of The Mill Photography Studio, came out to Kissing Tree with his telephoto lens to do some short photo sessions with our residents and find out why they love Kissing Tree!

Best of all, it raised money for a good cause! As part of the nationwide #FrontStepsProject, Brookfield Residential donated $10 from every session to All Together ATX, a community-led philanthropic fund providing flexible resources to nonprofit organizations helping those impacted by COVID-19. We loved all the pictures, and plan to roll out a couple of these posts to share them all. Here’s the second batch!

Michael Vivion & Sarah Morgan

After teaching at SWTU, Michael and Sarah wanted an active community in the Hill Country. They love wine, travel, antiques and art, and their cul de sac has turned into a neighborhood meeting point for all the “garage sitters and wine drinkers.”

“KT was the only over 55 community that had exciting year around activities.”

Kathy & Larry Anderson

After living in San Antonio and going to college at UT, Kathy and Larry love that Kissing Tree is located right in the middle of both. They’re enjoying KT’s mix of sports and lifestyle activities, and you can often find them cooking up a storm in their kitchen or sitting in the spa enjoying a cocktail.

“We were looking for a great retirement location where we could engage in activities in a great location. “

Les & Sherry McCormick

After retiring and moving from Magnolia, Texas, Les and Sherry are looking forward to playing lots of golf and traveling. In the afternoons, look for them on the patio enjoying a drink and cheese and crackers.

“We chose Kissing Tree for the beautiful community and great neighbors!”

Patricia & Larry Will

Former East-coasters Patricia and Larry moved to Kissing Tree to be closer to family, but they are excited to be in an active community with like-minded people. They love all the water activities in the summer, bridge and yoga in the winter, and live music whenever it’s available.

“We chose Kissing Tree because the community that was not run of the mill or cookie cutter. There are lots of varied activities to do.”

Gary & Sandy Lewis

KT Pioneers Gary & Sandy had been living in New Braunfels, but before their retirement, they wanted to move somewhere with a golf course. Kissing Tree provided the perfect answer, with pickleball, golf, and lots of opportunities to get together with friends—currently for social distancing driveway visits.

“We chose Kissing Tree because of the golf course and because it was for 55 and older.”

David & Alice Peterson

The Petersons have lived in San Marcos since 1998, so when they wanted to downsize without losing access to their friends, Kissing Tree was the perfect solution. Nowadays, they stay busy enjoying their lovely backyard, researching ancestry sites, and enjoying a glass of wine.

“We wanted a smaller yard and security, and we wanted to stay in San Marcos.”

Sally & Neal Cukerbaum (& Junior)

With family in Austin, Neal and Sally chose Kissing Tree for the location and amenities. They stay active with golf and pickleball, as well as walks around the neighborhood with their dog, Junior.

“Our favorite room is the casita.”

Kim & Sharon Roberson

When Kim and Sharon saw a Facebook ad for Kissing Tree, they never expected they had found their new neighborhood. Today, they love the community for the planned amenities and the amazing friendships. Look for them in the neighborhood walking Bijoux, a chocolate lab, and Cocoa, a brown Labradoodle.

“Our favorite room is probably our front porch, because we can watch everyone walk by and say hi!”

Joyce Bingham

If you’re interested in flowers and floral crafts, you’ll find a friend in Joyce Bingham. The native of Magnolia, Texas moved to Kissing Tree for the community and surrounding area.

“I’m still figuring out what my favorite things about the community are!”

Bernadette & Steve McCown

When Steve retired, the McCowns moved from Fort Worth to San Marcos to start a new life at Kissing Tree. They stay busy with golf, reading, watching movies, and socializing safely with their new neighbors.

“We love live music events and Texas Hold ‘Em at The Mix!”

Bill & Bette Taylor

Bill was on the San Marcos Parks and Recreation Board when Kissing Tree was first introduced to the San Marcos community, and the Taylors couldn’t wait to make it their home. They spend their time socializing with neighbors, playing Pickleball and bocce ball, and doing exercise classes.

“We were sold on the community from the very beginning.”

Shannon Soefje & Michael Bresnok

Shannon and Michael moved to Kissing Tree in July, 2017, and they love listening to live music and binge watching television shows with their dogs Cash and William. When it’s not quarantine time, they’re big on dining out and going to the movies.

“We love our outdoor patio because it is cozy and relaxing.”

Debbie & Tom Iversen

Debbie and Tom moved to Kissing Tree for the warmer weather—and the warm community. You’ll often find them sitting on the front porch, socializing with neighbors (six feet apart, of course). The Iversens have two sweet kitties—Pia and Trouble.

“We chose Kissing Tree for the active adult lifestyle!”

Heidi & Dave Lanford

Y’all give Heidi and Dave a warm welcome—they moved into Kissing Tree during the quarantine, so they haven’t been able to get to know their neighbors yet! The couple came to Texas from Virginia, and they’re looking forward to playing pickleball, swimming, biking, golfing, and socializing at The Mix.

“Being closer to grandchildren brought us here.”
