The USMVPA Annual Parade
The community of San Antonio is especially vital to veterans seeking support, and it’s home to “Celebrate America’s Military” (CAM) Week, held in November. The standout feature of CAM is its lively parade, sponsored by the U.S. Military Veterans Parade Association (USMVPA).The inaugural USMVPA parade was held in 2000, and the event has grown continuously since then, earning national acclaim in the process. In 2017, nearly 250 groups participated in the parade, which weaves through downtown San Antonio. Boasting the theme of “Veterans and Community – United,” the 2018 parade will be held on Saturday, November 12.
Also during CAM Week, the community is invited to the Fort Sam Houston Veterans Day Event at MacArthur Parade Field. Scheduled for Wednesday, November 8 at 10:45 a.m., the event features a concert by the 323rd Army Band “Fort Sam’s Own.” The U.S. Army North’s Lt. Gen. Jeffrey S. Buchanan will serve as the event host.
