Meet Our Pickleball Experts!

If you haven’t heard yet, pickleball is a pretty big dill around Kissing Tree. We can’t wait to celebrate the grand opening of our EIGHT new pickleball courts with a tournament and lessons from the very best in the business. While you’re here, get to know some of our amazing pickleball experts.

Larry and Jo Honeycutt

Larry and Jo first met while playing pickleball in Canyon Lake. Jo was new to the sport and Larry helped her learn how to play. A year and a half later they were married! Since then, they’ve traveled throughout the U.S. attending and medaling in tournaments in Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Alabama, New Mexico, Minnesota and Utah. One of their greatest ‘takeaways’ from pickleball has been the great friends they’ve made throughout the country. Fun fact: Jo and Larry are looking forward to moving into the Kissing Tree community later this year. They can’t wait to meet new people and spread their love for the sport that brought them together.

 Matt Lazarine

Matt is the Austin Tennis and Pickleball Center’s Director of Pickleball. He is passionate about helping Greater Austin-area residents embrace pickleball and improve their game. Matt offers lessons and clinics for all levels of play.

Chuck Flanagan

After a long career in the military, Chuck’s pickleball fun started in 2006 in an RV parking lot in Benson, Arizona.  A couple of friends that Chuck and his wife Elaine met stopped by to introduce them to the sport. Chuck now plays pickleball six to seven times a week and is the USAPA District Ambassador for Central and South Central Texas, as well as the Assistant Regional Director for USAOPA’s Mid-South Region (AR, LA, MS, OK, TN & TX).

Ed Beyster

Ed has 45 years of experience teaching tennis and 12 years of teaching pickleball everywhere from Hawaii to Texas. His love for the game helped launch many juniors into successful college tennis careers and helped many to become tennis instructors. He enjoys working with players of all levels to help them reach their full pickleball potential.

Mary Payne

Mary was born and raised in San Marcos and now lives in Georgetown with her husband Stan. Mary was playing tennis when she discovered her love for pickleball. She and her husband found the game addictive and have been playing ever since. Her first tournament was at the Texas State Senior Games in 2014, where she won a silver medal in ladies doubles. She has been participating in tournaments ever since
